Why Is Kokina Given as a Gift?

The name kokina comes from the Greek word “kokkino”, meaning red, and it is given as a symbol of luck for the new year. Legend has it that whoever keeps a gifted kokina for a year will own a home before the year ends. See all our designs on our kokina flower page.

Care Tips

• Do not keep the bouquet inside plastic wrapping; it stays better with fresh air.
• Place it in a cool, bright spot away from direct sunlight. Keep it away from radiators, stoves, fireplaces and air-conditioning vents.
• A kokina bouquet does not need watering; if the air is very dry, a light mist of water now and then is enough.
• The red berries are decorative and not edible; keep them away from children and pets.
